The Maples Evangelical Church, On-the-Job-Training (OJT)
Testimony of EE Trainer Cora :
The time had come for OJT. My team and I were assigned to go door-to-door on a particular street in the city. I was afraid and very nervous. We had knocked at about 9 houses and most of them did not let us in.
My team and I were getting tired and almost gave up. But somehow the Lord talked to us and told us to go to another street. We did as the Lord led us, and went to the last house where we believed God had a divine appointment and purpose in that particular house.
We knocked on the door of the 10th house. A couple, David and Jenny (not their real names) let us in. We introduced ourselves and our purpose. The couples' answer to our first question "Have you come to the place in your life where you know for sure you are goin to heaven?" was “yes.” To second question, "Suppose God asked you why He should let you into His Heaven? David's answer was by good deeds. Then somehow I felt Jenny's answer to our second question was very significant, and that she was hurting. Jenny's answer was, “I
am not worthy to go to heaven because I have not forgiven myself. I still need to forgive myself. That is what I will say to God.”
I was then able to present the gospel. In the “MAN” part of the gospel I noticed Jenny started to shed tears. She was very intent and interested in listening to what I was sharing with her, and so was David. During most of the presentation, Jenny could not help herself crying. David stood up and handed some tissues to Jenny to wipe her tears, and comfort her.
When the commitment questions were asked both David and Jenny responded and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour in their lives right there and then .
One thing that struck me and the others on my team was Jenny's testimony. Right after receiving Christ she said, “You know, today is supposed to be my last day.” Jenny was going to kill herself that day but the Lord intervened .
As I mentioned in the beginning of this testimony, it was God's divine appointment for this couple to be saved. We were assigned to a specific street but God pointed us to Jenny and David's house because God knew two souls needed saving, and particularly Jenny's life. She shared that she had been hurting and very depressed for almost 3 months.
I can really say, “God works everything together for good to those who love Him.” I praise and thank God for this amazing experience He showed us as a team, and the LOVE He showed and gave David and Jenny. Praise be to our God Almighty! |
